Hi, my name is Kristen Maple. I am a certified Aroma Freedom Technique Practitioner and I am going to share with you a little bit today about AFT, what the Aroma Freedom Technique is, the history behind it, the science, why you need it in your life, how it is so powerful, why it’s so effective. Hopefully all the things, hopefully I cover all of that, and here we go.
All right, so let’s dive into the history a little bit on how AFT got started. Dr. Benjamin Perkus, he is a clinical psychologist of over 25 years, he discovered that the sense of smell is incredibly powerful at helping his patients uncover, discover, and discard negative memories, emotions, and traumas that were being stored and preventing them from showing up fully in their life. It’s actually been scientifically proven. They’ve scientifically proven that your sense of smell is one of the only things that can access that part of your brain where those negative memories and emotions are stored, and release them so that you can move forward. He uses a series of 12 steps that he designed as well as Young Living essential oils. He went out and trained other practitioners like myself to share it and provide it to the rest of the world and hopefully, in turn, change the world. It’s such a powerful tool. It’s soo good.
I’ve been in a 12-step program, in therapy for over 20, 25 years myself. This was definitely the missing link that I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever been able to get there with any of those other modalities. I’ve been able to uncover things subconsciously that I had no idea were there. Now that I know, it’s like, hello, no wonder I have been trying for all these years to do things. I’ve taken all the courses, not all of the courses, but I’ve taken several courses, would get stuck on them, would read self-help books, and it would help me a little bit. But I still had a hard time implementing it. I would work with therapists and it was really great. It was beneficial, but when our subconscious is controlling our life, which 95% of what we do is subconscious, only 5% we’re conscious of, and the 5% that we are conscious of is the part of us that goes, “Yeah, I’m really going to stop doing that this year, or today, or tomorrow,” or “I’m really going to do that thing,” or “I really want to do this.” Then 10 years later, you’re still doing the same thing and you haven’t made the progress that you wanted to make.
This is such a good tool to use in conjunction. Use this tool in conjunction with the courses you’re taking, with the self-help books you’re reading, with the therapy sessions that you’re doing, with the 12 steps that you’re doing. This will take that stuff and actually allow you to implement it and it will get rid of whatever is in your way that’s keeping you from taking the action that you’re understanding intellectually because as our intellectual mind is completely different than our subconscious mind. We can read a book and understand, “Yeah, that makes sense. I should not do this,” but you’re being controlled by your subconscious. Your subconscious is the one I’m running the show. It’s not the part of you that’s reading the book and understanding or taking the course and understanding. It’s the part of you that’s saying, “Yeah, that’s great information, but we’re going to stay here because this is safer.”
Using Dr. Perkus’ 12 steps and using the essential oils, we are able to actually identify what it is that we want, what it is that’s getting in our way and release it and let it go so we can show up more fully.
There’s an analogy that Dr. Benjamin Perkus uses and it’s an analogy of a clogged hose. He says that if there’s a lot of dirt that’s clogged up in that hose, the water’s going to have a hard time of flushing through it. It’s the same way with our subconscious beliefs. If our subconscious beliefs about ourselves or the world around us are clogging up our hose, then we’re going to have a really hard time showing up and we’re going to keep repeating patterns over and over and over again until those things are cleared and we can kind of move through. That it’s what AFT helps you do.
One thing I noticed for me in my own personal life is when I started clearing out the mental clutter and the emotional clutter, my life started getting easier. My house wasn’t cluttery. I was able to clean with more ease. I was able to show up. I was able to do things that were scaring me. I have more confidence. I have more self-love, more self-acceptance. The list truly goes on. It’s such an incredible gift. I’m so excited for you guys to try it. I really hope you check it out.
